Reasons why I hate the Yankees:
1) While they've proven that you can't buy a championship, they've proven that you can buy the playoffs. And once you're in the ;layoffs, anything can happen.
2)They are not a big market team. They DWARF big market teams.
3) There is a larger discrepancy between the Yankees and the 2nd highest payroll (Mets) than there is between the Mets and the lowest payroll (Marlins). My senile grandmother could put together a winning team with those odds.
4) A-Rod
5) George Steinbrenner would be considered a terrible man, a tyrant, a pithy thin-skinned dictator in any other industry. Thank God for Alzheimers.
6) The fans suck at life-- I was actually around in the 80's and 90's when you couldn't give away tickets. This is why Yankee fans have no heart. 80% of them have never known what it's like to root for a team that actually has to work for success.
7) There's no joy in rooting for the Yankees- if they lose the world series in the bottom of the 9th of the 7th game of the World Series (like in '01), this is a colossal choke job. If they win, that's no achievement as that's what a tyeam spending about double than everyone else and given every advantage in the world is supposed to do. While you can say that they are the most successful franchise in the history of sports, I can make the case that they are the biggest failures in the history of sports as they themselves say that a year without a ring is a failure. That means that they've been abject failures for 80 of their 107 years in existense as a NY team. LOSERS!!!

I love New York but I hate the Yankees. They're a prime example of what's wrong with extreme capitalism: they have a crapload more money than pretty much every other team and use it to buy juiced up mutants, completely distorting the game, in the same way that massive economic entities like multinational conglomerates distort the economy, making competition impossible.

Lets take a look at McPherson's whining line by line:
1. Steroid use - well thats across every team in baseball, so that argument is worthless.
2. Overpaid crybabies - that pretty much covers every professional sports athlete from MLB to the NBA...again, worthless point.
3. No facial hair - Neither do the US Marines, but somehow I don't think you would disrespect them for it. And besides, you can have great bushy mustaches...see Don Mattingly in the mid 80's!
4.And finally, they brag when up and whine when down....Kinda like McPherson is doing on this board eh?

Look ive been a Yankees fan for going on 18 years im 23 now... i cant stand all the band wagon people. but as far as the money aspect goes there were 9 teams in 09 that spent well over 100 mil the top 3 most costly teams were NYY with $201,449,289 the mets were 135,773,988 and the cubs were 135,050,000. difference between 1st and 3rd was only 66 mill. which in terms of the MLB thats not a whole hell of a lot. so suck it up and quit bitchin about the Yankees just cus yr team sucks

because they just bought a world championship but still are in the talks for Jason Bay or Matt Holliday and Roy Halladay. I can't wait for Cliff Lee and Zach Grienke to be free agents so they have the starting AL all star team in their lineup. GO PHILS!!!
